Dreaming Of The Laptop Life

You would get a better understanding of what I’ll be talking about in this one. So without further ado. Since the lockdown, I’ve been having a lot of time on my hands and I’m sure it may be the same with you, you may have been called back into work or you’re one of our key workers who are on the frontline taking the heat for us all. I salute you.

Since I've been spending all this time at home, I've been keeping myself busy doing online courses, researching topics that have sparked my interest but never really had the opportunity to do invest in it. However, the one thing that really got my attention even more so was how to to make money online. I had been doing my own little research and I’m not saying I’m a pro at this, I’m simply sharing with you what I've discovered.

Who knows you could also be encouraged or fired up to do your own too or to take action towards those dreams and goals you once had back on January 1st, 2020. Remember those? Yeah, some of us have probably given up altogether. Rest assured, I strongly believe that the way we see things is the way it will plan out for us whether it's good or bad. Our attitude has a significant effect on our lives and what we end up achieving.

The lady I met at the product launch had opened my mind to another way of living and another way to how someone could actually do what they love and earn some extra cash on the side. At the time in order for me to do that, I would have had to go on the street and talk to people, talk to family and friends but as you know I was not very confident. I must say I did get a few people but the constant thoughts in my mind that people were going to laugh at me hampered my progress big time. There it is again.

She invited me to her house on numerous occasions and she played a video with Robert Kiyosaki, the author of the Rich Dad Poor Dad book and what he spoke of in the video made me believe that it was possible to achieve my goals without leaving my current job but earning extra income on the side. This was the pathway to financial freedom; no longer exchanging my time for money. Wow, I had never heard that before! How was that possible?

The lecturers in my university never dared mention it, nor was it on the news for everyone to know. So where else would I have learned this information? My answer is the desire to dream big and a willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed.

So in light of what Robert said here are a few ways I’ve found where we can make our dream come true. Anything that comes too easy never stays for long nor does it stand the test of time. So having persistence and a strong enough why is what will make us reach the finish line.

To make it easier I’ve separated these ideas into online and offline. So there’s the option to make money online or offline depending on what floats your boat or what skills you’re willing to learn or improve.

Online:

Affiliate Marketing – This is where you become the middle man for companies. You promote their products or services and you get a commission for every sale they make. There are plenty of products and services that you can promote especially the ones that you would be happy to recommend. It's normally free to sign up and you won't need any particular tech knowledge for this.

Selling Online – So you have so many clothes in the closet that no longer fits or you have a shoe collection that’s kicking you out of your own home. Whatever it is, you can sell it online, there are a number of websites where you can sell things for free and rake in that extra cash. We all have smartphones now so it is so easy to do.

Offline:

Advertising your skills – Whatever skills you have you can make money from it. All you have to do is to let people know about it. Prior to working in hotels, I worked as a hairstylist. It was my talent or should I say it is my talent. I dreamt of being a stylist to the stars but I realised that I had to invest a lot of time and money to reach that stage. Nevertheless, It was a good side hustle at the time.

Part-Time job - If you have free time after your normal working hours you could offer to work extra shifts at your current job or at another company. Time management skills would be beneficial for this one.

Network Marketing – Its a business model where you become a direct sales representative for a company mainly person-to-person working from the comfort of your own home. If you’re good at talking to people face to face then this opportunity would be perfect for you.

As you can see there are many options to earn extra money. However, I’m personally working towards a life where I no longer have to exchange my time for money unless I want to. I still love my job but at the same time in order to achieve our dreams, we will have to be willing to do something we’ve never done in order to live the life we never lived.

I’ve always wanted to help others but there’s a time when helping others can be very limited to what we know and what we have. So I’m working towards a time where I can give more of my time to help others without thinking about my bank balance and the laptop life is possibly the way forward.
