The REAL Reason I Bought A Laptop

As you can tell the title of this post might be a bit of a diversion from what I normally write about on my blog so far and it's all from personal experience and my own personal thought processes and I’m glad that you’re on this journey with me so far.

If I should go back about a year and a half ago I was going through a time when I felt as though I was on autopilot in my professional life. I’m loving my job, loving the people I work with and things were stable. However, I had big goals for my life and I was going through a time when I was trying to rack my brain to find out a way that I could earn more money without leaving my job. I was looking to find something. They say when you seek you will find and I did find it alright.

But before I share with you what I found let me tell you about the time when I graduated from University back in 2012. I had studied for 4 years at university by then and that is a long time to invest in something when promised that when you graduated you will earn this amount of money per year and you won't have to pay back your student loans until you’re earning over a certain threshold. How amazing? When I heard this promise back in year 11 in secondary school it was music to my ear.

I had a dream or should I say I had many dreams and I thought the promise of going to university and finding that amazing job after graduating was going to help me achieve those dreams I had back in secondary school. I could live where I want, travel where I want, get myself a nice car you name it. I dreamt of it.

One year after graduating I struggled to find that amazing job. Struggle, I did. All those dreams I had come crashing down when after applications after applications got an ‘unfortunately’ at the beginning of the responses I would receive. Could I blame anyone for that? What else could I have done apart from keep believing, keep trying, keep applying? Funnily enough, my eyes glanced over a heading in the Bible this morning saying the same thing ‘keep asking, seeking, knocking’.

I was at my wit's end when I decided to attend a business launch at a hotel back in 2013. I was invited by an acquaintance. There I met this lady, she was a dental surgeon; very intelligent we immediately clicked. You know when you just met someone and you just have that instant connection? Yes, that’s what I’m talking about. That right there.

'It is our duty to be successful’ Grant Cardone

Long story short we quickly developed a friendship and she introduced me to this amazing way of life that all those dreams I had mentioned above were nothing compare. She made it possible for me to think that anything I put my mind to I could achieve it, she introduced me to how important it is to invest in myself and in my mind and that it is the beginning of attaining any type of wealth I desire. My mind was blown. It was too much for me to handle and I broke down.

Literally, I cried in front of her. I remember going to her house one evening, she had given me a task to do and I failed. I had allowed the fear of failure to overtake me and also a sense of self-doubt. Those right there was enough to guarantee failure. I had already conditioned my mind for it and so it happened. That is why it is important to invest in our minds because the wealth of this world and the one after is all achieved by the renewing of our minds.

So the REAL reason I bought a laptop is to invest in myself. To open the many doors of opportunities that are out there to change my life, to change my story, to change the life of those around me and far beyond, to inspire others to step out in faith and try something new, because the path to wealth in every area of our lives will require discipline, self-denial, and persistence. I hereby hold myself accountable and I’m hoping that you who is reading this now will also be my accountability partner to make this a reality not just in my life but in your life also.

In my post next week, I will be sharing with you a few ways from my own research where it is possible to achieve your dreams without leaving your job; if you don't want to.

Until next time.

PS. I’m glad I met that lady because she still inspires me until today. And I can say if I didn’t meet her possibly I would have taken another route.
